How to Draw Glenn, Glenn Rhee from The Walking Dead, Steven Yeun
No shading is involved in this tutorial so you can focus on drawing! This is Glenn (played brilliantly by Yeun), prior the apocalypse he was a delivery boy. Knowing his way around Atlanta with keen scavenger skills, he saves Rick Grimes from zombies when they first meet. Being the most compassionate member of the group, he's become a vital member, fallen in love with another member, Maggie. So this show not only has action, but romance too. With this very popular comic book, game, and TV show, you either love it or hate it. And I absolutely love this show. STEP 1.
Draw the oval lightly with a No.2 or HB pencil. Make sure you draw it as seen in the picture.
STEP 2.
Now draw in the bisecting red line to balance his facial features.
STEP 3.
Sketch lightly the crescent red lines for hair line and head mass.
STEP 4.
You can draw in the lines a. for eyebrows, b. for eyes, c. for nose, and d. for mouth placement.
STEP 5.
Now draw in Glenn's eyes, eyebrows, and bags beneath his eyes.
STEP 6.
Observe where Glenn's features appear in relation to the guidelines. Draw in his nose, and mouth.
STEP 7.
When you sketch his hair, add those straight lines and curves. Try staying close to the lines that represent the direction of his hair. This will help if you decide to shade it in.
STEP 8.
Watch closely how Glenn's face outline, jawline, chin, ears, and neck relate to the guidelines. As you draw, you will have more accuracy.
STEP 9.
Now draw in his neck, collar, and shoulders. If you haven't already, you can erase your guidelines.
STEP 10.
I made this line drawing especially for you. If you want you can either color it in or shade it. Next step has different types of pencils you can use.
STEP 11.
PENCIL STROKES & TONE, SHADING, TEXTURE -- For your convenience, I have inserted this step with different pencils, strokes to use. And you can study the shapes that make up this drawing universe, along with tone, shading, and texture.
STEP 12.
Best thing you can do when drawing hair is to establish the general shape then work in the main strands of hair by holding your pencil at a 45 degree angle for stroking and coverage. Then, as in the third picture, you can work in more details. But here's a TIP! Don't draw a straight line for the hairline. Do tiny strokes to represent beginning of hair at its root. Look at real people and see their hairline isn't a straight line. Practice and your picture will look more realistic.
STEP 13.
