How to Draw a Fruit Bat

1

Let's begin with two simple shapes. One for the head and another for the body. The two shapes should be connected to one another like so. Add the facial guideline, then draw the wingspan guidelines as well.

The next thing you will do is begin sketching out the fruit bat's head. There should be some hair on top of the head like so, the ears should be big, and the nose or snout should be long like you see here. When this is done draw out the bottom jaw to

The first thing we will tackle here is the task of detailing the fruit bat's ears. Sketch in the skin tissue line like so, then draw some cartilage inside of the ear. Next, draw out the big eyes then color in one pupil. Draw the nose like so, then pr

This is a very simple step because all you have to do is sketch in some fluff for the bat's chest. As I said in the description, fruit bats have a furry body.

Draw the rest of the body, followed by the legs which are spread apart. Draw in the clawed feet like so, then proceed to step six.

6

You're almost done folks. All you have to do is draw in the arm and wing. You will need to draw out the actual fingers for the wings like so, and then draw the end lining to finish a part of the wing.

Cap off the rest of the ends on the wings like so, add some detailing to the bat wings near the body, then draw in couple toes more. You can begin erasing the mistakes and guides.

Here is what your fruit bat looks like now that you are done. Color it in and show people your work. Great job people!

Description: Hey guys, how is it going on this magical Monday so far? Well, I hope it's going good for you all because I have some really fun lessons that I think people will enjoy. Looking back at some of the animal tutorials I did, I noticed that I didn't do a whole lot on the bat species. So today, I will be showing you "how to draw a fruit bat", step by step. These bats are one of the most recognized bats in the world. Everyone knows of the fruit bat and whether people like it or not, they aren't what we think they are. With this drawing tutorial I will be talking about some cool facts about the fruit bat. First things first. They are probably the only bat species out there that I find cute. Even though they remind me of rats, the fruit bat has that likable look because they have that fuzzy hair that covers their bodies, great big eyes, and muzzle shaped snout or nose. When I think of a bat I usually don't associate the fruit bat as an ugly, creepy animal. Fruit bats are also called 'Megabats'. They don't drink blood or eat insects. Instead they are strictly into eating fruit and on occasion they will suck on some flower nectar. Besides eating fruit, they also like licking the juices from fruit. In the fruit bat family there are bats that are only two centimeters big, and there are also bats that are so big, they have a five foot wingspan, and weigh up to two pounds. Now because fruit bats don't like to tolerate cold weather, the more common places that you will find these critters is places with warm climates like Hawaii, Mexico, Florida, and other areas with tropical like temperatures. Anyways, drawing a fruit bat should be simple enough for a wide variety of folks, but if you are one of those artists that like drawing bats no matter what species they are, than this lesson should appeal to you too. Adios people and enjoy this tut.
