Steps: 5Updated: December 21, 2008P.O.V: FrontFavourited: 12 timesWell I have submitted my first lesson on how to draw a praying mantis which came out pretty cool. This next tutorial I will show you how to draw Marvin the Martian step by step. Now this animated Looney Tunes character is the best. He is one of the funniest characters created by a fellow by the name of Chuck Jones. The reason why he wanted to create Marvin is because Bugs Bunny was no longer a victim to his wild cowboy enemy “Yosemite Sam”. He thought that Bugs needed someone more determined, maniacal, and even witty. Marvin the Martian had all these qualities and then some. His appearance was made to foreshadow several different things. First off, Marvin’s conception was based on the God Mars. He wears a helmet that has a push broom brush attached to resemble the helmets that the ancient Greeks wore which is called a Hoplite helmet commonly seen on Roman gladiators and soldiers. This was used to cover his sphere like all black head and face which only displays his eyes. He also wears a Roman soldier's uniform, old school style sneakers, a red shirt and red colored tights. Marvin’s main purpose of existence was to destroy earth and all the creatures that lived there. One of the things that make Marvin the Martian funny is his voice. He has this timid, nasal like voice and when he is being mean and ruthless, it just made him seem more harmless. Bugs Bunny was always the smarter of the two but even he was tricked by some of Marvin’s evil plans. This Looney Tunes character is wicked easy to learn how to draw because he is basically limbs and bones. I will show you in detail how to draw Marvin the Martian step by step with simple to read instructions. The steps are easy to follow as well so that everyone can tackle this pop culture character/icon. I will be back with other cool drawing lessons in a bit so stay tuned.
