How to Draw a Rearing Horse
Alright guys, I'm back with another drawing lesson I've sketched, inked and colored in livestream last night. In this new basic tutorial, I will show you "how to draw a rearing horse" in a flaming concept style. I had fun working on this guy, especially shading the intricate details in the background. The painting process took a while, especially for those who watched the streaming session. I think I spent three hours on this, and an additional hour for the color corrections and finalizing details. Let me tell you, color correcting is probably the most time consuming process, only because there's so many choices to choose from. Anyways, I hope you'll enjoy this one, I had fun working on it. STEP 1.
You will be drawing a normal horse body the only differences come into play when the detailing is added. Draw out the basic shapes and lines until you have a workable guide like you see here. There should be three shapes, some guidelines to connect the shapes, and some hooves.
STEP 2.
Okay, so now you will slowly start sketching out the structure of this horse's muzzle and head. As you can see there is some sharp line work done when creating this horse. You will add the first mane strand like so, and be sure to incorporate the ear. Sketch out the back of the neck followed by the chest.
STEP 3.
Continue on with the concept of this fire horse. Sketch out the front legs and hooves. I chose to draw this horse in a hind leg stance. The front legs and hooves are raised as you can see. Sketch in the shoulder definition like you see here, the proceed to step four.
STEP 4.
Draw in the nice swooped line to form the dip and shape of the back, and back end. Draw the long thin tail which whips across the side of what's going to be the horse's back leg or thigh. Add detailing to the tail, then you are done here.
STEP 5.
As you can see you will now draw out the belly, then sketch out the hind legs which are on their own when it comes to holding up the weight of this horse. Draw the hooves so their nice and strong as well as nicely shaped, then add detailing to the inner part of the hind legs.
STEP 6.
You are almost done folks. You will need to sketch out the flaming mane, then draw out the very simple eye which is nicely round in shape. Draw the flaring nostril, then add the lines to form the hooves. This is also your last drawing step, so you will also need to erase the mistakes as well as the guides you drew in step one.
STEP 7.
Here is your fire horse when completed. Let your imagination go wild as when you color in this fantastic piece of art.Post a comment
