How long has it been since I did a lesson on an actual dog breed that was very popular? I have been asked to make this tutorial on "how to draw a min pin" or Miniature Pinscher since forever. So many people requested this pooch for so long. I'm sorry I never uploaded the tut before, but sometimes it gets boring drawing dog breeds on a consistent basis. The min pin is actually another favorite small dog breed that you see walking on leashes, and being carried around in doggie bags. Min Pins are actually one of the more desired toy breeds that folks love because they are so small framed but very agile and sporty in a mini way. They resemble the Doberman Pinscher to a tee minus their size. Like a lot of small breed dogs, miniature pinscher's can also develop small dog syndrome, and become overly aggressive over their territory or homes, as well as over their owners. The best way to avoid these types of issues is to well socialize your min pin or other small or toy breed, as well as keep them treated like a dog instead of a baby. Many owners feel that they can baby their toy breeds because they are small or baby like. Their size is what makes people associate toy or small breeds with a small child or baby. Anyways, this lesson should be fun. Drawing a miniature pinscher is definitely going to be a fun experience. Adios people and enjoy!

How to Draw a Miniature Pinscher, Min Pin

how to draw a miniature pinscher, min pin step 1

STEP 1.

You will begin like you always do by drawing a couple shapes and lines for your guides. As you see here I made a shape for the head, and another for the body. I then connected the two with a neck guide.

STEP 2.

Next, using the shape you just made, begin sketching out the structure of the miniature pinscher's face. The view is mainly from the side but you will see a tiny bit of the opposite eye in later steps. Once the snout, jawline and forehead is complete, move along to step three.

STEP 3.

Here you will complete the head and face by first drawing out the medium sized pointed ears. Add detailing or definition to one of the ears, then draw in the min pin's eyes and nose.

STEP 4.

Draw out the thick shape of the neck, then add the markings along the snout, neck, above the eyes. These areas will all be colored brown when you are done with the drawing.

STEP 5.

Continuing with the task of drawing out the body, sketch out the shapes of the front legs. When that is done you will carefully draw out each paw and don't forget to make the toes thick and well formed.

STEP 6.

Finish the body by drawing the dog's back, and hind leg. Notice the stance of this breed. Even though they are small, miniature pinscher's have an amazing form. Draw out the bottom part of the leg as well as the paw, then draw in the cropped tail.

STEP 7.

Lastly, draw in the other hind leg and paw. When you feel that your min pin is well drawn and defined, you will need to start erasing your mistakes and guidelines because in the next step we will be adding the rest of the dog's marking lines.

STEP 8.

Now you can draw in the markings on the chest, back legs, and on the lower part of it's front legs. Draw the paw padding which peaks through just a bit, as well as the nails on each toe. Sketch in some small amounts of body definition too before calling this drawing done.

STEP 9.

Here is the line art when you are finished. Now you can have even more fun as you color in this toy breed.
