How to Color Skin in Sai, Digitally

Well, for me it's easy to shade and color in Paint Tool Sai. Enjoy!

STEP 1.

make a new layer and put it on normal, but only put it on normal if your lineart is before the layer you just made, and make the layers all normal as well, or its just going to be all funny.

STEP 2.

now high light the place you want skin to be

STEP 3.

now colour the high lighted area

STEP 4.

make a new layer on top of the base of the skin colour you justed coloured in.

STEP 5.

now us air brush for soft shading

STEP 6.

us pen to colour in darker shades

STEP 7.

put some blush

STEP 8.

now put white in her eyes, i'm to lazy to colour them in XD

STEP 9.

and there you go, thats how i do easy skin colouring, sometimes i put more shades or light in. hope this helped a litte~! :)

I present you with the brilliance award for this month -hands over- hai . I always tried to find how to color my pics without messing up the whole thing. Now that I look at this... lol I feel so dumb. So thank you and handle the award with care yay (even though it is just words...)

I can give you a download for Sai, its save meowla and i can do one for photoshop becasue i have photoshop too~!

How does one obtain the software used in the tutorial? I mean, I do have GIMP (GNU Image Manipulator Program); however, I believe I could do better in drawing, albeit digitally.

Proceed to write lengthy response. Didn't log in disappears O_o . I use photoshop, and yes there is a similar basic system. The reason the lineart doesn't get covered it because it is above all of the colour layers.

This is beautiful! Have you worked in photoshop? Because that's what I have also. I'm wondering if there's a similar basic system. And how come the lines don't get covered up when you paint over in that layer?
