Tim Burton is one of my favorite film directors. His style stuck out best against most of the directors for his time. His hit successes which was 'The Nightmare Before Christmas', 'Beetlejuice', and 'Edward Scissorhands', have stuck by my childhood for a very long time. Though, I have to say I'm not too fond of his newer movies. They lack uniqueness and variety. If he were to write more films that were original, then I bet he'd have a few more lasting masterpieces for his time. No matter what I have to say about Mr. Burton there is one thing that remains the same, he will always be a uniquely gifted director no matter what he puts out. He was born in 1958, which makes him younger than my grandmother. As a child Tim would make films in his backyard using an 8mm film camera that had no sound. When he would film these movies he would also use animation techniques that he was familiar with. You would think that Burton made it through school with flying colors right? Well the truth is, he wasn't that good of a student. He would much rather be home painting or drawing, and even watch movies. One of the main inspiration for his films is the stories by, you guest it, Edgar Allan Poe. I know I mentioned a few movies that he worked on, but what about the other flicks that we fail to think about but loved them as kids? Films like James and the Giant Peach was one of the movies I couldn't go without watching for more than a day. I found Sweeney Todd a bit weird, but it was also very good. And how can we forget that he is responsible for directing the best Batman movie which was the first Batman film that starred Michael Keaton. The list goes on and on, and on. In this lesson, I will show you in a brief way, using simple to draw steps "how to draw Tim Burton", step by step. I had so much fun drawing him, as well as the shading and whatnot. Be sure to check out the digital video on how I drew and painted him on YT as well! Peace out and have fun everyone!
