1

Begin with a large circle shape for Shun's head guide, then sketch in the facial line that you will use to draw in his face evenly.

2

You will start this step by first drawing the lining for the hat, and then draw in the lid. Next, from the back of the hat start the lining for the ear, as well as the neck. Continue by sketching out the shape of his face on a 3/4 view angle like you

3

You will now begin the process of sketching in his face. Start with the eyebrows, then draw in the eyelids and eyes. Next, slowly draw the slop line for the nose, then sketch in the lining that forms the mouth, lip, and add detailing inside of Shun's

4

Finish drawing the sailor style hat, and then draw a band that runs around the whole rim. You will then draw some hair in the form of a side burn, then draw some hair in the back of his head like so.

5

This is already the last step which means drawing Shun was pretty simple. All you have to do now is draw out the collar of his coat, and then a small arch for his shoulder. Erase any mistakes and guidelines before proceeding to step six.

See how cute Shun is? You can color him in and set him aside next to Umi. I hope yo enjoyed drawing Shun from "From Up on Poppy Hill".

Description: Here is the second character I told you I was going to submit. He is one of the handfuls of main characters that will be in the upcoming Walt Disney Pictures film which will also be produced by Studio Ghibli. Here is "how to draw Shun", step by step. Remember in the first lesson on Umi I told you that the story basically follows two older teens? Well Shun is one of those teens. He is a boy that Umi takes a liking to, and Shun’s feelings are mutual as well. Shun is the president of his school newspaper. Every day when he rides his tugboat to school, he sees a flag up on a hill that is raised every morning by Umi. She raises this flag as a message to sailors. The flag is supposed to represent “I pray for safe voyages” which is something that Umi really believes in. When a project comes up to clean up an old building, both Shun and Umi meet and from there a friendship builds. They start liking one another but are conflicted with their feelings because there is a chance that they just might be related. I don’t want to know what happens as far as what I told you, so I’m afraid that you will have to see the film when it’s released. For now enjoy drawing Shun, and I will see what I can do about submitting tutorials on the rest of the characters. I hope that I can eventually have lessons on drawing all the figures From Up on Poppy Hill. Have fun with Shun, and remember to reunite him with Umi when you are finished. I’m sure they would love to be on the same page together or at least next to each other.
