How to Draw a Komodo Dragon for Kids

1

Begin the first step by drawing a rock like shape head, as well as another rock like shape for the body. Attach the two shaped with a neck guide and move to step two.

2

Now that the shapes are all drawn in, you can begin sketching out the shape of the actual face and head structure. Notice that this animal has a strong under-bite. Draw the jaw line in a well defined manner, and then add some of the back neck line.

3

In step three, you will draw the eye. Start with a bold arched line for the lid, and then draw the eyeball. Add a nose hole, and then some definition around the head and neck.

4

Up next, draw the front part of the neck, and then draw the front legs which are very squishy looking. Draw in the feet and toes like so, then proceed onto step five.

5

Draw the other leg and notice how the leg is pointing toward the other leg. The legs of a komodo dragon are bow shaped.

6

Continue to work on the body by drawing the belly as well as the hind leg and foot like so. You are almost done guys.

7

Remember when I said you where almost done? Well, this is your last step. All you have to do now is draw the rest of the neck, and then add the back lining which then turns into the tail. Clean up your drawing by erasing the guidelines and shapes tha

You are all done. Now you can have even more fun coloring in your very own komodo dragon. Great work guys!

Description: The inspiration for this next tutorial came from my eight year old sister. She came home from school on Friday with a book that was all about komodo dragons. She was so excited to show me the book because she leaned that the komodo dragon is one of the oldest living reptiles in existence, and because this animal has the name "dragon" in it's title. All the pictures in the book where really hard for her to even replicate and since the komodo dragon lessons I have on the site are a little too difficult for her to follow, I had to make her a lesson that she could tackle all by herself and feel proud of it. So here is "how to draw a komodo dragon for kids", step by step. A lot of the tutorials on Dragoart that are in the 'for kids' section are mainly created for my sister as well as members. She too is an aspiring artist, and for an eight year old she is quite good. I will have to upload one of her drawings into my profile for her so you guys can check it out. Anyways, I have always liked the komodo dragon because of it's massive size, strength, and look. This is one of those lessons where I enjoyed making so much, I had to tell everyone to come see it when I was done. Now it's your turn to tackle drawing a komodo dragon for kids so you can get on the right track to becoming an artist, or better artist too. Have fun people and be sure to leave comments, and rating to let folks know what you think. Adios mi amigos and enjoy!
