Kia ora, Hello, this is my first tutorial. I was looking through some of the tutorials and noticed that there were some Ta moko or Maori designs that looked more like tribal. They were awesome designs but lacked the concept of maori art. In this tutorial I will be showing how to do the basics of Ta Moko. But before I start, Ta Moko is an ancestral art of mine and comes from the maori people of Aotearoa also known as New Zealand. Ta Moko consists of mainly a life stream (two lines down the middle), koru and kowhaiwhai. If you can master the art of kowhaiwhai, Ta moko will become alot easier to do. With each design of Ta moko has its own little story behind it. This tutorial is the basic and I will try and do some more difficult ones in the future. Here I will be showing you how to draw a Mangopare (hammerhead shark) representing strong willed and determination to the wearer.
