How to Draw Kelly Clarkson, Kelly Clarkson

I Know I’m getting a late start to the day but I’ve made it either way. I will start by uploading a tutorial that I did for my mother because lately she has been listening to a certain artist that has been around since the early 2000’s. Today I will be showing you "how to draw Kelly Clarkson", step by step. I know there is a lot of people out there that may think that Kelly Clarkson is not talented, but there is no way that you can deny her of her talent. Just because she was an American Idol contestant and winner, that doesn’t make her any less talented. Anyways, she was born on April 24, 1982 making her twenty nine years old. She was born in Fort Worth Texas to Jeanne, and Stephen Clarkson and she is of English and Greek descent. In 2002 she auditioned for American Idol, and ultimately won against Justin Guarini. She is the first winner from the series, and the song that won her the nomination was “A Moment Like This”. I’m not familiar with her early works from 2003 to 2004, but I am familiar with her Breakaway album witch has songs like Since U Been Gone, Behind These Hazel Eyes, Because of You, Gone, and one of my favorites, Breakaway. I worked really hard on this tutorial, so I hope you will all enjoy it as well. Even though it is going up to the site, I am still a little unsatisfied with the results. There are still some things I wanted to tweak, but I left it alone because I thought I was knit picking. Anyways, have fun drawing Kelly Clarkson and I will prepare my next submission for you all. Peace out and enjoy!

STEP 1.

We will be drawing Kelly Clarkson so let's get started. Begin with an oblong or oval shape for her face, and then lightly sketch in the facial guidelines.

STEP 2.

Using the guides you just made in step one, begin sketching out the actual structure of her face in general. Notice that the top part dips inward which then makes it heart shaped. This is her hairline.

STEP 3.

Okay, using the facial guides, you can start drawing the shapes of her eyes, and then her nose. Kelly Clarkson has a very small button nose that widens a bit near the bottom. The top lining for her eyes should be bold, and the lashes should be fine.

STEP 4.

All you have to do here is slowly sketch out her mouth and or lips like so. Her mouth is open just a tad with a real subtle smile.

STEP 5.

Lip Proportioning Tip| The corners of the eyes ALWAYS align with the corners of the lips. Use this measuring technique when you find yourself in a ditch proportioning the eyes and mouth correctly. This same rule applies to the face from the front and side.

STEP 6.

Now that most of her facials are drawn in, you will now begin drawing or sketching out her eyebrows. I love Kelly's eyebrows because they are trimmed and shaped so nicely. Draw her actual eyeballs, iris' and pupils. Sketch in the crease line of fold in her eye, and then add some more lashes to the bottom of her eyes.

STEP 7.

Okay guys, let's start with sketching out her hair. As you can see the reference picture I used had her hair in a blowing style. Continue where you started in step two, and then draw swift lines to shape out the hairstyle outline. Shape out a neck and some of the beginning parts of her shoulders.

STEP 8.

Hair Flow| The flow of the hair detailing is very important for the hair itself. The thick regions we drew earlier will help guide us for the thinner and intricate details we'll be drawing later. Take this guide to use as reference to help understand how to place each detail. Note that we must use THIN lines for the detailing in order to keep focus on the whole composition.

STEP 9.

Using the tip I gave you above, continue to sketch out her hair like so until it is beautiful and lustrous. Add an ear, and then start erasing the mistakes and guides.

STEP 10.

Here is what she looks like all buttoned up and beautiful. Now you can tackle the task of coloring her in.

wtf Yes i am enspeechlessled to my own opinion thank you for clarifying. X3 I didn't comment to ' hurt ' her feelings and i didn't say that i didn't like it or that it wasn't an amazing drawing..it is an amazing drawing but it looks nothing like Kelly Clarkson. And my comment wasn't even rude or mean, just an honest opinion, not my fault if you[or anyone] gets offended. rolling

Just a suggestion: if you're not going to frame the facial features with hard lines, don't do it for the hair. In the colored image up top, the hair and face look completely separate because of how soft the face looks and how line-y the hair looks. The whole composition should be consistent.
