Bilbo Baggins, played fantastically by Ian Holm, with his well-know smoking pipe is the protagonist and titular (writer) character of The Hobbit and a supporting character in The Lord of the Rings, two of the most well-known of J. R. R. Tolkien's fantasy writings. He is the "cousin" of Frodo (who called each other uncle & nephew) and made Frodo heir of his riches and the "Ring." Tolkien's legendarium "Lord of the Rings" now a movie that has won 17 out of 30 Academy Awards nominated in total. (Notes by Wikepedia.)
