If there is one thing I love, its finding new exotic animals that roam the wild. There is an elusive cat that lives in Asia’s rainforest as well as in the Himalayas. Today I will be showing you "how to draw a clouded leopard", step by step and the great thing about these cats is that they are not too big, and not too small. They are about the size of a fifty pound dog like a lab or something to that nature. Clouded leopards are considered to be extraordinary cats as far as climbing ability goes. They have large paws with sharp retractable claws. Their big paws and claws allow them to climb nearly to the tops of trees, as well as having the ability to hang upside down from select branches. Their short legs may fool the untrained eye, but the truth is, clouded leopards have very strong hind legs and they also have what you call ‘rotating ankles’. This basically means that their ankles rotate in such a way that lets them climb down from trees in a downward angle. There is not too much information on the clouded leopard because they are seldom seen in the wild. What researchers do know is that they are probably solitary animals that have a keen sense of smell and very good eye sight. Female clouded leopards will have a litter of cubs once a year and the size of their litters can range between one to five cubs. Their meal of choice is animals that also live in the forest like deer, pig, squirrels, and even monkeys. I had so much fun drawing this cat because it is such a rare species to spot in the wild. Their coats are beautiful and their faces are absolutely stunning. I do believe that you will enjoy drawing a clouded leopard, because after all, it is an animal that’s part of the big cat species.
