Who says that prehistoric animals only come in the form of land dwelling creatures that are considered to be huge reptiles with scaly skin and gigantic teeth? Today I am going to submit a tutorial on one humongous shark that has unfortunately been extinct since the mid, to late Pliocene period. I say unfortunately because to me, it would have been cool to see these sharks studied the same way scientists study marine life today. What shark am I talking about? Well, I’m talking about a giant shark that roamed the waters millions of years ago. Today you will be learning "how to draw a megalodon", step by step. Since these ginormous sharks lived so long ago, all the information about their species is purely speculated. This is because unlike the great white, megalodon where made up of almost all cartilage. The only real bone left behind in fossil terms is their teeth, and some of their vertebra. Researchers believe that megalodon resembled great white sharks because their teeth are very similar in shape and in structure. They know that megalodon where huge because their teeth and jaws are massive. Just one tooth is a little over half a foot big. Their teeth where very sharp and had serrated edges which made them like razors. The jaws of a megalodon opened up to seven feet high, and six feet wide. I’m sitting here telling you guys how big this animal was, but I’m still not giving you a good example. Let me put it this way, great white sharks can reach lengths of up to a little over twenty feet long, and they can weigh around seven thousand pounds. A megalodon is said to have been forty feet long, and even as big as one hundred feet long. Guess what? If a megalodon was around today, they would be able to swallow a great white shark whole just by opening up its mouth and swimming right into it. The pectoral fin of a megalodon measures up to be bigger than a six foot tall human. Let’s just face it, these super sharks where simply gigantic and if it were possible to ever see one in the flesh whether it be a fossil or in person (yeah right), you would without a doubt pass something mushy in your pants. I had a lot of fun with this lesson and just to let you know, the scuba diver I included in the main thumbnail or image, is of actual size. I hope you all have fun drawing a megalodon, as I did making it. I shall return with some other cool lessons on some pretty amazing animals. Until my return peace out and enjoy!

STEP 1.

Begin your first step to drawing a megalodon by making the round shape for the head, and then draw or attach the cone shape for the body.

STEP 2.

Begin sketching out the actual structure of the shark's head, snout, the large wide open jaw, bottom jawline structure, and then draw some of the neck and or under body. Make sure the lining you draw has the bumps and contours like you see here.

STEP 3.

Here you will continue the drawing process by sketching out the dorsal fin, both pectoral fins, and ten draw the caudal fin, or tail fins as we know it. The edging to the pectoral fins should be wavy like so, and there should also be a notch in the center of the tail fin.

STEP 4.

Now that the entire body is drawn out, we can get busy with drawing the rest of the detailing. This includes drawing the gill slits, and then sketch in the crinkled up skin around the outer parts of the mouth like you see here. Draw and color in a soulless eye, and then draw the nostril holes, as well as all the detailing on the fins and body. End this step by sketch in the horizontal lines on the side of the shark's body, and then move to step five.

STEP 5.

Draw all the teeth in the mouth, and then add some inner mouth definition to the right side, and then you are all done. Clean up the drawing and prepare for color.

STEP 6.

Here is your megalodon when you are all done. Now you can color in this big beast and show folks what prehistoric creature you just created.

These sharks favorite meal whas whale and i mean actual full grown whale's. They're tactics where to dive very deep and rise at very high speed, so when they collided with the whale, they where able to lift their humongous prey out af the water in a giant leap and biting the whale in half. Ever whent to a natural history museum and check out a whale carcspeechless? If you see how huge a whale is, imagine the creature that could jump out of the water with a whale in it's mouth. wow
