1

Begin step one with a circle for the head and then draw a face guide. Draw the body out in the form of an oblong shape like you see here for the schnauzer's body.

2

Begin sketching out the shape of the dogs head and then sketch in the mustache rounded snout like so, and then draw in the floppy ears. As you know their ears can be both erect or floppy.

3

Now you will be sketching in the bushy eyebrows, and then draw the small beady eyes as you will color them in too. Sketch some detailing on the snout, and then draw the nose tip and the mustache hairs around the muzzle.

4

Next up, you will be drawing the front legs as well as the hearty looking paws. Draw in some nails and then sketch in some of the dogs semi long coat. I wanted to draw this schnauzer in a laying down pose to make things different.

5

Draw the back of the dog, and then draw in the hind leg and back paw. Make sure the lining is long and wavy and the nails on the leg is drawn in as well. Since this is the last drawing step all you have to do is erase or clean up the drawing.

6

When all is said and done your dog drawing should look like the one you see here. Color in your breed any color you like, for me I went with a salt and pepper tone.

Description: Okay everyone, I will try to continue and submit more lessons today even though I’m feeling a little under the weather. Recently I read a comment on the cocker spaniel tutorial and Shewolf8 asked me if I could make a tutorial on "how to draw a Schnauzer", step by step. I find this request funny because this dog breed was actually already made into a lesson and I planned on it going up today. I didn’t know what color to make my schnauzer because they do come in different colors and tones. I have never owned one of these dogs before, nor have I ever known anyone that has had one. I am familiar with its appearance due the fact that I have seen many of them in pet shops and a few in dog parks. Before I moved to where I am today there used to be this amazing dog park that had so many different dogs running around catching balls and Frisbees and even sticks. My dog used to have so much fun at that park, and now that we live on a large piece of land, my two dogs just do what they want, when they want, and how they want. Anyways, the schnauzer breed is a small, but hearty built dog that has a long rectangular snout and or head. The ears of this dog breed are erect and pointed, or rested and hanging, but the tails are usually docked. One recognizable characteristic or trait of the Schnauzer is the bushy beard, mustache, and eyebrows. Remember when I said that these dogs come in different colors? Well, if you are in the market for buying a schnauzer you can choose between a black, white, salt and pepper, black or silver. They make excellent apartment dogs and even though Schnauzers are small, they are very energetic. I tried to make this dog as easy as possible so that others can enjoy the task of drawing a schnauzer. There is still have more to come folks so try and stick around to see what else I have in store for you all. Peace people and enjoy!
