How to Draw Human Hello Kitty, Anime Hello Kitty
SO! It seems the past tutorials on the anime human versions of popular cartoon characters have been majorly successful! Witnessing this makes me 10x more inspired to work on more. So with that, on the night of December 27th's Livestream, I went ahead and suggested the idea of doing an "anime human Hello Kitty". It was INTENSE fun working on this character, especially working on her super cute overalls. I knew right away what type of hairstyle would fit a human version of Hello Kitty, since she's the type of character that would have one like so. The coloring process was the best part of working on this piece. Like my recent works, the coloring and inking have been in a consistent style. Anyways, I've gotta get ready for a Livestream tonight. STEP 1.
First, we'll begin by drawing the basic guidelines for the frame base of anime Hello Kitty. Though drawing the circles perfectly isn't necessary, it's still preferred. Try to get the guidelines as accurate as possible. The importance of this step is dire because it's where the form of the character's body will start to mold.
STEP 2.
Working our way slowly, we'll start sketching the facials as well as face shape. I'd recommend drawing the face shape first before you jump into the facial guides. The reason I do this is because of the advantage of knowing your boundaries once the enclosing face shape is drawn. For Hello Kitty's character, it's best to give her big bubbly eyes. It only expresses her outgoing personality!
STEP 3.
Then, working at a steady pace, we'll work on her hair, which is closed off by her cute and unforgettable bow. The bow is one of Hello Kitty's major trademark, never forget it! The hair should be drawn in large strands, it only makes things simpler to draw!
STEP 4.
Finish off her facials first, then the detailing in the bow. I use thin line weights for the inner details to keep the viewer attention keen on the overall composition. Having thick lines throughout the entire drawing will only confuse. Anyways, draw her hair in the large pig tails like shown. Note that you can add your own hairstyle from this point on, if you're feeling brazen that is.
STEP 5.
We'll start working on her body, using the guidelines drawn previously as a sort of measuring tool (from the distances of each line). This pose I find is very cute for her type of personality, all scrunched up and flirty!
STEP 6.
Lastly, all that's left to do is fill in details by again, using thin line weights. The legs should be drawn covering most of arms to give a sense of shyness. Add a few wrinkles to areas which have dimension as well as active movement.
STEP 7.
This is what you should end up with after proofing your drawing, and additionally inking. You can go ahead and color your drawing with preferred copic markers. For the inking, use micron pens or a black marker of some sort. Or, you could use an ink brush. Anyways, I hope this tut was fun and cute for y'all!
