How to Draw a Butterfly Tattoo

Now that you’ve seen my latest tattoo design on the Native American warrior, I will show you how to draw a butterfly design that is a popular tattoo with the ladies. I have seven aunts and all of them are in there early to mid twenties. All but three have some sort of butterfly tattoo design on their lower backs, arms, or ankles. If I was to get a tattoo I would definitely not get one on my lower back because I know that is a sensitive area to let a tattooing gun start doing its job. Tattoos have been around for centuries and there are even people out there that have almost their entire bodies covered by tattoo art. I mean most of the time each tattoo holds meaning to the individual whether it is from sorrow, happiness, pain, or fear. There are some cultures that tattoo their bodies as proof of them conquering their fears, accomplishing dreams, and they even hold spiritual meanings as well. This butterfly tattoo is really pretty and cool. I’ve included a heart along the lower left side. I gave this design its own meaning, to me it means that love and beauty will never die as long as there is beauty to love. A bit corny I know but hey, who knows maybe some female out there will understand what I mean by that. I hope you all like this drawing lesson on how to draw a butterfly design step by step. The instructions are super simple to read and understand, and the steps are easy to follow. I will be back with two more tutorials on some neat tattoo designs in a bit so stick around gang and keep your eyes peeled.

STEP 1.

Start this first step by drawing the shape of the butterfly wings and then a circle shape off to the lower left hand side for the heart. Make sure you take your time so that all the lining comes out nice and neat.

STEP 2.

See this lesson isn't too bad right? You will now start sketching out the actual shape of the butterfly wings as you see here. They have arches and points to make them pretty and dainty looking. You will then draw out the shape of the insect body and then add one line at the ends of each wing. You will then draw out the begining shape of the heart as well.

STEP 3.

Now as you can see you have made it to your third step which means you are almost done. Now as you can see you will take your time adding the beautiful design to the butterfly wings and then thicken the lower tips as well. You will then add some antenna lines and then eyeballs.

STEP 4.

Well you have made it to your last step and here you will finish the wing design on your beautiful butterfly. You can then erase all your guidelines and shapes that you drew in step one.
