How to Draw a Gargoyle

1

What you have to do first is draw two circles. One is for the head and then another is for the body. Sketch in the facial guides and move to step two.

2

Using the inner circle you drew in step one, begin sketching out the structure of the gargoyle's face and include the brow lines.

3

Okay guys, now is the time you will draw in the face. Begin with the eyes like always, stating with the mean expressive brows. Draw the eyes, heart shaped nose, and then draw the screaming or roaring mouth. When the mouth is drawn in, sketch in each

4

You will now start sketching out the large bat like ears, and then draw the back of the gargoyle which is only viewable because he is in an arched pose as he gazing downwards. Once the ears and back are all drawn in, you can sketch the detailing insi

5

Begin sketching out the shoulders and muscular shaped arms like so. Be sure to add in all the detailing and definition on the arms like so.

6

Draw in the massive sized claws like so and be sure that they have pointed tips.

7

Now you are ready to sketch out the back legs and feet like so, and then when you do this you will also have to sketch in some muscle and bone detailing.

8

For the last drawing step all you have to do is draw out the large neatly drawn wings. The top of each wing is pointed, and then the bottom of the wings are pointed as well. Add some texture detailing like so, and clean up the drawing.

9

That's it guys, you are all done. Here is the line art now that you are done. Color in your gargoyle and then color it in the way you choose.

Description: It's no surprise that folks have been waiting to see this next tutorial on the site since I drew it live two days ago. If you go rummaging through the Halloween category you will find a tutorial on an old gargoyle that I made a few years back. As you know I like making more than a few different concepts on certain creatures, and since I only have one gargoyle, I thought that making a newer version on how to draw a gargoyle step by step would be something artists of all levels would enjoy. This is a super cool, up to date version of a stone concept gargoyle, and if you compare the two drawings, I think you will find that this one is one hundred and ten percent better than the old one I have. I should have made this creature long ago, but since I had other things on my mind, I had to actually wait till someone requested another tutorial on drawing a gargoyle. I know you folks will love this submission because I had so much fun recreating a newer version of an epic beast. Well, that's all I have to say for this description. I hope you will all enjoy replicating a gargoyle of your own. Peace out people and enjoy.
