How to Draw a Tribal Panther, Tribal Panther
Hey guys, here's another lesson for you ravers and addicts to tribal art! Last night during my livestream, I drew two versions of tribal panthers. The one you see present is the one that I've fixed up to completion. I had so much fun sketching the curves and diverse patterns of this panther, and there was a lot of inspiration from tattoos I've seen earlier that captivated me. This one is the typical 'crawling' pose seen on the backs of arms, backs, and sometimes the chest. There's an abundant variety of cool panther tribals that are wicked cool. Before you start any drawing, you should get ideas from Google images and piece together from your memory a new unique form of design. This is merely what I've preformed here and in my live drawing session. Make sure you sketch most of the designs quickly for them to shape accurately (sometimes). It depends on the speed and skill of your drawing level. In this case, I'd place this tutorial in a advanced/intermediate level. It all depends though! Anyways, I hope you'll have fun with this tut. STEP 1.
Draw a small circle for the head guide and then make a curved vertical line for the body guide.
STEP 2.
Next, we'll start sketching the starting shapes and deep curves for the teeth and eventually the jagged ears. Take your time with this step, and start with the edge of the right eyebrow and mouth part. Now, the idea of tribal designs, is to draw patterns that correlate with each other and sort of mask the various strokes of tribals in a flowy pattern.
STEP 3.
Then, we'll start by sketching the left arm and neck shape for our panther. Notice how all the curves and patterns of the tribals are very relative to one another. Use tribal outlines for the shape of the body, leaving regions slightly connected.
STEP 4.
Let's start by finishing the details that anchor the head and spin. By using thin and sharp curves for the spinal definition that tapers into the tail. Sketch the right leg that scales beneath body.
STEP 5.
Take a deep breath and begin to work on the left side of our panther drawing. Sketch deep and sharp curves that angle into the shape and presence of the body. Keep the leg bony and hidden beneath the tribal. Lastly, use thin lines to create the tribals for the tail.
STEP 6.
Lastly, complete the drawing by finishing the right leg, which is also similar with its relative limbs.
STEP 7.
If you've drawn this using sketchy and swift lines, it's good you did. Now, you can take a permanent marker or pen, and start inking the tribal design to a more polished state. It's best to sketch fast and sketchy first, before finalizing with black marker or pen. I hope you've enjoyed this tutorial!
