Hey everyone, here's a tutorial on how to draw on of my favorite characters from the Final Fantasy universe, Cloud Strife. This tutorial is based of the Advent Children version of Cloud. Get your supplies ready for this one and have fun with it!

STEP 1.
Start out by picking your pencils. I used an HB pencil for sketching/shading, a 3H pencil for light shading and lines, a B pencil for dark lines, and a 3B pencil for dark shading.
STEP 2.
Start out with a basic sketch of Cloud. Use the guidelines if you need them.
STEP 3.
Your sketch should look something like this.
STEP 4.
Start defining your sketch a bit more starting with the facial features. Don't worry too much yet about getting everything just right. It'll be easier to fix your mistakes later on. Just make sure that you are sketching very lightly! Use an H pencil instead of an HB if you want finer lines.
STEP 5.
Now define the hair a bit more.
STEP 6.
Now define his clothing a bit more.
STEP 7.
Blend in your shading using a blending stump.
STEP 8.
Start adding shading to the drawing from top to bottom. Rely on your 3H and HB pencils for this. Use a B pencil for the darker shading.
STEP 9.
Start shading the hair. Start out by defining the outline of the hair a bit more by darkening and blending in your background. Then use mainly a 3H pencil to add in the hair strands.
STEP 10.
Finish up shading the hair and the ear.
STEP 11.
I started to layer Cloud's collar during this step but the main thing that you have to worry about is defining the background a bit more. Use layers of HB and 3B pencils and a blending stump to smooth out your background.
STEP 12.
Shading in his shoulder pad. Use a 3H pencil on the "Cloudy Wolf" emblem. Use B and 3B pencils on the shoulder pad. Use 3H or HB pencils to add texture.
STEP 13.
Go over the rest of the clothing using an HB pencil to add definition and prepare you for final shading.
STEP 14.
Add another layer of shading to the clothing. This time start using B and 3B pencils to darken your lines and shading.
STEP 15.
Finish up your shading. Go over the drawing again from top to bottom. Smooth out your shading using blending stumps and go over any lines that need to be reworked.
