Description:

Okay boys and girls; are you ready to have some heart pounding, colorful looking, and warm feeling fun? Well saddle up and jump aboard the little pony express because this tutorial is going to show you how to draw my little ponies, Kimono. These colorful toys where designed and marketed toward little girls as a fun play toy pony. They where first introduced back in 1982 by the Hasbro Toy company with the Earth Ponies collection. The first collection contained the original my little pony line up with; Blossom, Minty, Butterscotch, Cotton Candy, Blue Belle, and finally Snuzzal. When they first hit toy shelves they almost instantly became a big hit. The popular toy horse resembled real life horses with colors of the rainbow. At one point they even out sold the other popular girls toy Barbie. When Hasbro seen how remarkable this line of toys where doing they eventually introduced Pegasus and Unicorns to the Earth Ponies. Then out came an even bigger crowd with Sea Ponies which actually did look like sea horses. After the quick sale of those types of ponies Hasbro introduced Flutter Ponies, these had much smaller bodies compared to the Pegasus line. Flutter Ponies came with a set of translucent wings like a fly or a bee, and they also gave a child the ability to move the wings with an action button. If the Flutter ponies weren’t small enough, Hasbro went all out and dropped another pony line called Windy Wing and Summer Wing ponies, and these toy horses where even smaller that the flutter ponies. Finally Hasbro said “enough” and put out one last pony line called Mermaid ponies. Over time the popularity of these pint size toys grew so much that a movie line was released along with a cartoon series. These ponies are fun looking and my favorite out of them all is Kimono Pony. She has a purple body and deep purple hair with two Chinese lanterns on her back hip. This tutorial will show you how to draw My Little Ponies, Kimono step by step. Have fun and enjoy!

Step 1.

Lets start this first step by drawing out the guidelines and circle shapes to make drawing Kimono a whole lot easier. Starting at the head draw an acorn shape for the face and a rounded triangle for the ear. Now draw a big bright eye with a few lashes. Draw in the snout, smile, and nostril. After you get the face drawn out draw out the lining of her big beautiful looking hair. Next draw the lining for her legs which are nothing more than straight boxed shapes. Finish off this step by draw the remainder of the lining and move to step 2.

Step 2.

Okay here is where you will draw out Kimono's pretty long flowing tail and mane. This is very simple all you have to draw is a bunch of waves. Easy right. Now just finish off Kimono's legs in the back and a bit in the front. When your sketch looks similar or exactly like the one above you can move down to the last step which is step 3.

Step 3.

In this step all you have to do is draw out the hair definition on Kimono's tail and mane. What you are basically doing is adding detail so the hair looks like it has strands. Then draw and shade in the two lanterns on her hip and shade in her big looking eye. Move don to step 4 after you've erased the guidelines and circle shapes.

Step 4.

And this is your final sketch result. Your pony should look like this when you are completely finished. All that is left to do is color he in purple and give her mane a bit of dark purple shade. Well that concludes this tutorial on how to draw My Little Ponies, Kimono.
